If you saw any news clips of the opening of Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls in S. Africa on January 2, 2007, you heard that some of these kids may for days without eating dinner. One woman said "we have not eaten dinner last night, and are not able to tonight, but I think we will be able to tomorrow". HELP IN THE FORM OF ACTION IS NEEDED TODAY! Talk is cheap! Sympathy is not helpful! Compassion is Action is priceless!
From KCA website: AIDS is 25 years old this year. It has affected every country in the world infecting 65 million people and killing 25 million.
The face of AIDS is female. In Sub-Saharan Africa three women are infected for every two men and among 15-24 year olds three women are infected for every man.
One tenth of the world's population live in Sub-Saharan Africa, yet they are home to almost 64 percent of all people living with AIDS.
Nine in ten children with HIV live in Sub-Saharan Africa.
In Africa, one in five female students reported that their first sexual experience had been coerced.
72 percent of all people who need AIDS treatment are in Sub-Saharan Africa, yet only 17 percent are able to access it.
